Learning to sing is a lot like learning a sport.  When a team prepares itself for a season each practice starts with a series of exercises and drills that help to refine the set of skills that make for a successful game. 
Sing gym is a formatted practise session for singers who are developing their technique and musical skill.  The activities are taught at the introduction Sing gym course and practised throughout the term.

  • developing pitch accuracy
  • vocal qualities and onsets
  • sight singing, music intervals, scales
  • tongue twisters & rhythmic vocal percussion.
  • stage presence and awareness
  • emotional expression
  • improvisation
  • choral blending
  • vowel shapes
  • vocal dynamics

Each session includes a group warm up & practice in pairs with tutor guidance. All sessions include  laughter and playfulness and peer appreciations!

PREREQUISITES:
Students will have attended the introductory Sing Gym Workshop and be able to pitch match. They will be comfortable working and playing with others.
