For Elders and Aspiring Elders (Any age welcome) Aranui, St. Albans, Sumner, Kaiapoi
With support from Hagley Community College, Community and Public Health, Wellbeing North Canterbury and Sumner Bays Union Trust
Click here to see a short film about the Rockers.
These groups sing songs from around the world as well as fun and funky songs from the last five decades in harmony. It is a chance to have a lot of fun, and it really doesn't matter what your voice is like, or whether you think you can sing or not. Every practise includes a time for a cup of tea and a chance to get to know each other. Music is provided, but you don't need to be able to read music. There are NO AUDITIONS.
Although this group is aimed at meeting the needs of older adults, anyone is welcome to come along.
Four independent singing groups that come together occasionally for group performances. You can join any one, or all four!

The Tutors
Nikki Berry leads two choirs in Christchurch, A Capellago, and Open Song, and works with community choirs around the country. Gary Easterbrook has been a professional musician for over 30 years. Their popular 'Reclaim Your Voice' courses have helped hundreds of 'non singers' to gain the confidence to sing in public. Other tutors will also be joining the team as the project develops.
Bookings not necessary, but it would be very helpful to know if you are coming.
